Enjoy a Mediterranean lunch and talk with Kristin about process, storytelling, working with actors, sound design, world-building through sound, and the emerging job market for new graduates.

Bio: Kristin M. Burke was born in Orange, CA. Educated at Northwestern University, she earned degrees in both Radio/TV/Film and French Studies. She won awards at the Seattle International Film Festival, FIFREC-Nimes Film Festival and the Dallas Film Festival for her experimental short films. More recently, she was awarded a $100,000 fellowship from Warner Bros. to write and direct a short film as part of their Emerging Film Directors Fellowship, called Urban Myth:

NEST. She is currently directing season two of the award-winning scripted podcast BORRASCA for QCode Media. She spent the first twenty-five years of her professional life as an award nominated costume designer in a career that encompassed film, television, video games and music videos across many genres.

As a writer-director, she now has many projects in various stages of active development. She has authored several books, founded a nonprofit to aid refugees in Southern California, delivered a TEDxTalk, has lectured at universities all over the world. written a popular blog on film costume design, and her writing has appeared in numerous anthologies and publications, including The Guardian.
