Professional Reads and Internships

Professional Reads

To encourage our students to polish work they started in school and/or to begin new work and as a bridge to the professional world, MFAs who submit a 1-2 page synopsis (in the case of a TV/film script) or a 1-2 page synopsis+10 page sample (in the case of a play) within one year of graduation will receive an evaluation of that work from an established Northwestern alumnus or other industry professional. Depending on the evaluation, that professional reader may or may not request to read the script itself.

Internship Program

MFAs will have an opportunity to apply for internships at film, theater, or TV production companies in Los Angeles, New York, or Chicago in order to obtain “real world” experience working in the entertainment industry.
